3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w black and white photo of Loretum in Chaptico. In this photo, someone was working to rehabilitate the house. The chimney tops had been repaired or replaced and both chimneys tuckpointed. The porch supports all looked new. Loretum was a two and a half story clapboard house with a gable roof in both buildings. This view showed the gable end with twin chimneys. Near the stack of the right chimney was a four over four double hung window, but that was the only window in that elevation. There were three windows in the second floor of the long wall. A closed end shed roof over the porch began right under the windows. The entry door was at the far end of the three bay porch on the first floor and there were two windows on the rest of the wall. The porch floor was two or three steps above the ground. About six feet above the ground, near the left chimney, was some kind of square opening in the wall. On the gable end of the house was a story and a half sloping gable roofed clapboard addition. A small three bay porch was incorporated under the roof near the chimneys. There was an entry door and possibly a window on the house wall. There was a single six over six window in the remaining wall. The well was in the yard, as was a pile of sand and mason's tools. By 1998, the addition had been removed.
