Carte-de-visite 3 7/8"h x 2 7/16"w of Louis B. Fenwick, son of Aloysius and Charlotte Fenwick. He is looking into his left distance. He is hatless. His ears are prominent and he sports substantial mutton-chop whiskers and a whispy mustache. His straight hair is parted on his left and combed smoothly to his right. He is probably balding. His eyes are heavily lidded. He has on a white shirt, a light colored four-in-hand tie, a vest, and a jacket. The card has a golden beige base, an oval photo (2 3/4"h x 2"w), raised a little from the surface of the card, and a brown background around the photo.
It is not known whether "Lewis" or "Louis" is the correct spelling for this young man's name. Mr. Fenwick had first written "John Simms" on the verso of this card and later changed it to "Louis B. Fenwick."
In the depressed oval on the verso of the card is the elaborate green logo of the photographer, G.D. Morse, in San Francisco, California.
This piece was in the lower right corner of page 1 of the dark red photograph album.Collection
