Description

3 1/2"h x 5"w black and white photo of the doctor's office at Woodly, Dr. James Thomas Notley Maddox's farm in Washington County, Maryland. It was a square stucco building with a dark modern shingled pyramid roof, a cupola, and a door on each visible side. The door facing the photographer was made of narrow vertical boards and had a small transom window. It must have been very dark in there. A house was in the background. The photo illustrates an article by Gerald Sword about Doctor Maddox in Volume 34, No. 8 (August 1986) p. 389-396, Chronicles of St. Mary's. ************************************** Text on verso: in black ball point pen "Dr. Maddox's medical facility on lawn of 'Woodly' Farm.
