Description

3 1/2"h x 5"w black and white photo of the doctor's office at Woodly, Dr. James Thomas Notley Maddox's farm in Washington County, Maryland. It was a square stucco building with a dark modern shingled pyramid roof, a cupola, and a door on each visible side. The door facing the photographer was made of narrow vertical boards and had a small transom window. It must have been very dark in there. The back wing of the doctor's house was on the left. The photo illustrates an article by Gerald Sword about Doctor Maddox in Volume 34, No. 8 (August 1986) p. 389-396, Chronicles of St. Mary's. ************************************** Text on verso: in black ball point pen "Dr. Maddox's medical facility on lawn of 'Woodly' the Maddox family farm. Photo 4-86 by G. J. Sword"
