3 1/2"h x 5"w black and white photo of Dr. Maddox's tombstone. The light colored stone had a round arch shape with a carving of a cross in a crown. Text: "Sacred to the memory of Thomas Maddox M.D. son of Samuel and Sarah Fowler Maddox Born in St. Mary's Co. Md. April 3, 1810 Died March 7, 1887" There was additional text at the bottom of the stone in small letters. The photo illustrates an article by Gerald Sword about Doctor Maddox in Volume 34, No. 8 (August 1986) p. 389-396, Chronicles of St. Mary's.
