1 1/16"h x 1 3/8"w oval tintype in an elaborately embossed card. Dull red ink outlined the card and was used for the almost Scandinavian style trim on the corners. Three red stamped ovals outlined a heavily embossed space with an oval cutout. Behind the cutout was mounted the small tintype. The image was a solemn young woman with dark hair parted in the middle. I think she may have had an arrangement of flowers on the top of her head. It almost looks as if she had on a hood or shawl with a dark velvet interior and a band of pleats or short fringe around the outside edge which extended down over her shoulders. She had on a small white lace? collar with a fabric rose at her throat. A folded sheet of lightweight gray paper was on the back of the board. The photographer had his logo stamped on the outer sheet and there was space on the inner sheet to write the person's name. "Mamie Carr" was written in red ink and circled in pencil, but below that in pencil was written "Mary Louise Booth Maryman Laughlin." All these names are a puzzle.
