The calendar was compiled from 8 volumes of the Maryland Archives and 5 volumes of the Maryland State Papers. It listed the day to day happenings in the County during 1776-1783 and identified the military and civilian persons who were most involved with the struggle. The County was very supportive of the Revolution in men, supplies, and money, all the while being raided by British ships and suffering substantial property loss. The book was a project of the St. Mary's County Bicentennial Commission and was endorsed by the Maryland Bicentennial Commission.
