Folder 3: Chapter VII to p. 83. These sheets are handwritten and there is a small sheet of notes from Maryland Historical Magazine Folder 4: Chapter VII, p. 84-end, with 41 sheets of notes for the chapter. These sheets are handwritten. Folder 5: Additions and corrections. There is a group of 33 sheets with corrections from the foreword to the end of chapter 7 and another group of 68 sheets dated February 12, 1949 with corrections for the entire book Folder 6: Correspondence. These letters begin in 1948 as Mr. Beitzell established contact with Father. Ryan and others at Woodstock College, the home of the Woodstock Archive. He first visited on October 2, 1948 and made follow-up visits late that year. He contacted the Archdiocese in Baltimore for information, but they referred him to the individual churches. There are a few letters from the local churches and suggestions of other priests who might be knowledgeable. In April of 1949, Beitzell submitted to his lawyer a document assigning all rights in the Jesuit Missions ... book to the Society of Jesus of the Province of Maryland. The Society planned to publish the book. The lawyers' comments are not included here. Beitzell was recommended to Father John Morgan, gravely ill in New York. Mr. Beitzell visited the priest and Father Morgan provided lots of information before his death September 30, 1949. Beitzell then worked on gathering up bits and pieces of data and asking for permission to reproduce material. Father Ryan suggested the book would need a lot of editing. Folder 7: Notes and correspondence. There are 14 sheets of a carbon of an article? called "Twin Silver Jubilees in Catholic Negro History," with no author identified. Then there are 61 sheets of notes, another group of 2 sheets of notes, a group of 17 sheets of notes and letters from teaching sisters about the histories of local schools, another group of 14 pieces with histories of more schools, then a group of 15 sheets with a hand written copy and a type written copy of a letter to Father Ryan asking if Father McSorley could edit the book and asking about the possibility of the Maryland Historical Society having copies of any Woodstock letters that relate to Maryland. Folder 8: Research notes and correspondence. Nearly all of this material is research notes, with just a few letters on research topics. Nearly all the sheets are hand written.
