Description

The title of this piece is "Historical and Literary Map of the Old Line State of Maryland showing forth divers and curious and notable facts relating to scenes, incidents, and person worthy to be recalled on the state's three hundredth anniversary." It was edited, prepared, and published by the Enoch Pratt Free Library of the City of Baltimore in 1931. Dr. Matthew Page Andrews, Mr. Louis H. Dielman, Miss Emily Emerson Lantz, Mr. Percy G. Skirven, Miss Beta Kaessman, and Mr. Edwin Tunis all helped with the creation of the map. It is a large picture map of Maryland, highlighting people and events with small figures and small text. The Maryland flag shield is in the center left where Virginia would be and the state motto is on a banner above the shield. The twelve 5" x 3 1/2" insets are on the bottom, left, and top edges and the 5" x 5 3/4" street map of Annapolis is in the upper right quadrant. The map was lithographed by A. Hoen & Co. of Baltimore.
