Description

I believe this to be a scan of the original and we do not have the original. [Mrs. Shafer says the location of the original is unknown] The sepia toned portrait is of Marie Antoinette Culbreath Hopewell. She is posed in a profile. She has slightly wavy dark hair that covers her ears and is probably pulled back into braids or a small bun, but she has a filmy scarf on the back of her head that obscures one's vision. The scarf draped down over her shoulders. She has a simple loop earring that measures 3/8" in the photo, so it must have been quite large. She has fine features, with dark eyes and a thin mouth. She is not wearing glasses. She has on a dark dress with dark buttons down the front and a scalloped white collar with a rectangular piece of jewelry at her throat. She is a very attractive woman.
