7 1/2"h x 9 3/8"w photo of the Maryland First Volunteer Infantry Regiment at Camp Meade, Pennsylvania. The photographer must have been on a high ladder to get the entire regiment and all the tents. The band is on the left. The companies are lined up in long rows in groups of three. The officers are on horseback, with the most senior officers grouped out in front of the foot soldiers. The tents are in neat rows behind the throng. Mr. Duke was a member of Company I, but no attempt was made to point out his location.
