2010.003.0134Scope and Content
1 folder ; 9" x 11 3/4"
This folder contains correspondence and descriptions relative to the Trust's attempt to build a large data base of historic sites in Maryland. Garry Wheeler Stone at Historic St. Mary's City, and Barbara Raley, Mary Edna Smith, and Margaret Fresco of the Historical Society were all involved in identifying and describing sites according to the rules of the Trust. It was a mammoth undertaking, but the final product was very disappointing to countians. Pressure immediately began for a revised volume, but it was not published until 2010.
January 19, 1978 Letter from Mrs. Raley to Pamela James, presumably the lead for the project at the Trust, enclosing descriptions of properties and asking for originals of work completed. She also asked for credit for herself and the other women when the book was published.
May 9, 1978 Letter from Mrs. Raley to Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Fresco.
It included two sheets of additions and corrections to some descriptions. The "enclosed article" was not with the letter.
