Black and white 3 1/2"w x 3 1/2"h photo of Mattapany, which is Quarters A for the Patuxent River Naval Air Warfare Center. The house is two and one half stories, five bays in length. This view shows one gable end with a pair of inside end chimneys. The chimneys are shrouded in ivy, as is the rest of the wall. A lightning rod is on the left chimney and a television antenna is attached to the one visible gable dormer on the right. The louvre between the chimneys is partially exposed and under it there is a six over six double hung window with dark shutters peeking out of the foliage. On the second floor there are three larger six over six double hung windows with dark shutters evenly spaced along the wall. The left window is not quite engulfed in ivy, but the others are. On the first floor are three still larger six over six windows with dark shutters that are nearly surrounded by ivy. In the center of the building there is a stair rail that protects a stairway to the basement of the house. The screened porch is just visible on the left and there is a bay window on the right.
