Black and white 3 1/2"w x 3 1/2"h photo of Mattapany, which is Quarters A for the Patuxent River Naval Air Warfare Center. The house is two and one half stories, five bays in length. This view shows the land side and the two story addition. The house has a large dark gable roof with three gable dormers with small six over six double hung windows. A television antenna is attached to the left dormer. On the near end is a pair of chimneys that have been incorporated into the addition; the left chimney has a lightning rod. On the second floor of the front of the house there are five six over six double hung windows with dark shutters. On the first floor, an enclosed porch has been added. It has square pillars on the corners. In its wall facing the camera are two eight light vertical windows. There are two large six over six double hung windows with shutters visible on the first floor. A gravel path curves in front of the house. The addition has a hip roof. On the front, second floor, is one large six over six double hung window with dark shutters. On the end, second floor, are two six over six double hung window with dark shutters. In the center of this same elevation on the first floor is a hip roof over a small open porch with a door into the building. There may be five or six steps down to the ground and there is a handrail. There is a six over six double hung window on each side of the porch, each with an outside shutter only. On the front of the house is a large window with an indeterminate number of lights, but the same dark shutters. The gable roof of a one story addition is just visible behind the two story addition.
