Gable end view of the Mattingly house in Compton. The house was a story and a half, a light color with a darker color outlining the fenestration. There were two large chimneys on this gable end. There were small, high, square four light windows to the left of the left chimney. There was a large window and a door to nowhere between the chimney stacks on the second floor. There was a ten light French door and a regular entry door between the chimneys on the first floor. To the right of the chimney was a fifteen light window or French door. From the lower edge of the left chimney to probably the back wall of the house was a tile patio with two steps to the ground. There was a picket fence around the yard.
