3 3/8"h x 5 1/8"w black and white photo of the Mechanicsville Post Office on the east side of MD 5. It is a long low brick building with parking in front and on the right. The entry door is on the extreme right, crowned with a broken pediment. There is a pair of twenty-four light windows with heavy molding to the left of the door and three six over six double hung shuttered windows spaced out on the rest of the elevation. A belt of molding runs the length of the wall about two feet from the top of the building. Above it "United States Post Office" is in large letters and "Mechanicsville Maryland" in somewhat smaller letters below it. A small tree is near the door and a flagpole is about in the middle of the building. There is signage for one handicapped space. To the right and behind the building is a gravel mine processing area.
