They decided not to loan the Church of the Nazarene $9,000. Several foreclosures were discussed. The bank examiner's report was included with the minutes. January 10, 1949 The Executive Committee met. Joseph A. Saunders, J. Allan Coad, J. Frank Combs, and Zach M. Fowler were present. January 11, 1949 Annual report of the County Trust Company of Maryland, the parent company. January 27, 1949 Special meeting of the Board of Directors at which they went over all delinquent loans in detail. The group adjourned to the Leonardtown Wharf Club for lunch. January 31, 1949 Charles Fenwick, Mrs. Love, and Kennedy Abell may charge the bank for cleaning the director's room and the basement. This was the first time Kennedy Abell's name had been mentioned. February 7, 1949 Appended to the minutes was a sheet listing the officers and Advisory Board members of the Leonardtown Branch: Chair of the Advisory Board, Joseph A. Saunders, Branch Vice President, Joseph A. Saunders, Branch Cashier and Assistant Secretary, Stuart B. Bennett, Assistant Branch Cashier and Assistant Secretary, Charles E. Fenwick. Advisory Board members: Joseph A. Saunders, J. Allan Coad, J. Frank Combs, John R. Drury, Joseph B. Drury, Zach M. Fowler, William H. Mattingly, Stanley L. Raley, Robert E. Wigginton. March 7, 1949 The Board of Directors discussed a $25,000 loan to renovate dormitories in Lexington Park. The request was denied. March 28, 1949 A loan of $20 for three months was approved by the Executive Committee. May 2, 1949 E. P. Martin asked the Board of Directors to waive a $4,000 payment on the Point Lookout Hotel that was due at the end of the month. The request was denied. May 9, 1949 St. Mary's County Commissioners borrowed $17,695 for twelve months. May 16, 1949 A couple asked the Executive Committee to borrow $15 for a month, but the request was denied. Quite a few people asked for chattel loans for tractors. June 6, 1949 The Board of Directors reduced the annual payment on the Point Lookout Hotel from $4,000 to $2,000. Comprehensive directions for credit checks were attached to the minutes. June 20, 1949 The minutes of the Executive Committee suggest the Mechanicsville branch of the company had closed. The Committee recommended L. Herbert Wise for the Leonardtown board of directors. July 5, 1949 The Board of Directors allowed George Ragan to put off his mortgage payment until the next summer so he could afford to build a tobacco barn. All the employees got a raise: Stuart Bennett and Mr. Fenwick each received an extra $200 per year. Katherine Love, Kennedy Abell, A. Naomi Mattingly, and Phyllis Davis each received an extra $100 per year. The parent company had considered buying the Crisfield Bank, but decided not to do that. August 1, 1949 The semi-annual report of the state of the parent company was included in the minutes. Most of the meetings for the rest of the year revolved around overdue notes.
