2016.018.0001Description
11 3/4"h x 9 1/4"w menu from Cafe des Artistes in Leonardtown, Md. on the corner of Washington and Fenwick Streets. The restaurant was open from 1999 to 2016 and was much beloved. Most of the menu was influenced by French cuisine, but Loic paid close attention to local tastes and included crab cakes and other local seafood when available.
Loic Jaffres was the chef. His brother, Stephane, worked with him, as did David Donnells, who was Karleen Jaffres' son. Karleen ran the front of the house.
The menu has 3/8" black leather edges with clear plastic sheets to slip 8 1/2" x 11" papers into a sleeve. The front cover was the restaurant's logo of a rose on a piano keyboard on an off-white background "Cafe des Artistes Casual fine dining Leonardtown Maryland
The second page was always the daily or weekly specials and was almost always pink. There was an additional half sheet of plastic with a list of Lite Fare items. The next sheet was heavy coated paper listing appetizers and soups. On the back of that sheet were the entrees. The next sheet had salads and desserts. The back was a plain off-white sheet.Collection
