Water color by Father Stephen Tushak of Middle Street in Saint Mary's City, Md. It is a summer scene. The picture is focused on a corner of Middle Street and some unnamed street. Four houses are visible on Middle Street and one house is visible beyond. In the foreground is a sidewalk, green lawn and white picket fencing. The house on the far left is a red story and a half with an outside end chimney with a corbeled cap on each end of the building. A three bay front porch covers the whole front of the house. There are two visible windows and a centered door on the first floor, three dormers on the second floor, two small windows flanking the chimney on the second floor end and one window on the first floor end. An outbuilding is barely visible behind the house. The next house has a hipped gable roof with a central chimney. It has a one bay entrance porch over the centered front door. One window is on each side of the door. On the end a single upstairs window is visible with a garret window above that. An outbuilding is visible behind the house, The third house also has a hipped gable roof, but there is a substantial dormer centered in the roof line. At the left end is an outside end chimney with a corbeled cap, and on the right end is a double stack corbeled cap chimney surrounded by a small addition on the first floor. The dormer forms a porch roof for the centered front door and there are two large windows on either side of the porch. In the visible end are a garret window, a second-floor window and a small window in the addition. Two buildings are visible behind the house; one of those has a chimney and a window, but it is not clear if these are outbuildings or another person's home. Across the side street is a red story and a half with an outside end chimney visible on the left end. There are two visible dormers in the roof and a centered door with flanking windows on the first level. There is no porch. All the house have picket fences.
