Mary, Ruth, and Elizabeth Hebb were born in Saint Mary's County. They moved to Baltimore early in their lives and were educated there. Ellen Ruth, called Ruth, went to Wilmington as a governess and, together with her sisters, later opened and ran a school for young ladies. This series contains personal information about each sister, joint correspondence with various family members around the country, stories of their girlhood, baptismal and confirmation certificates, a family record book, considerable genealogical information about the Hebb family, passports for Ruth and Elizabeth, correspondence about family portraits which were given to the Maryland Historical Society, a transcribed copy of Vernon Hebb's correspondence with Elizabeth Wilson, and a folder about the interment of Ellen M. J. Pearce, who may have worked or taught in the Hebbs' school.Collection
