Description

3 3/8"h x 4 7/8"w photo of people on the Mother Catherine Spalding pilgrimage to Pleasant Hill near Pomfret in Charles County. People were seated in the chairs they had brought along. A large yellow school bus waited for the festivities to be over. This was the birthplace of Mother Catherine Spalding, who went to Kentucky as a young girl and subsequently assisted in founding the Sisters of Charity in Nazareth, Kentucky. It was a teaching order and supplied teachers for several southern Maryland schools, such as St. Mary's Academy. Several local women joined the order. This series of photos was of a pilgrimage to Mother Spalding's birthplace. ************************************ Text on verso: in blue stamp ink Kodak Colorwatch System logo repeated and "Apr 87 F" repeated
