Sepia tone print 4 3/8"h x 2 5/8"w of Nannie Greenwell Fenwick and Louis B. Fenwick at the replica State House at St. Mary's City. Mrs. Fenwick is holding an oriental style umbrella to shade herself and Louis from the sun. She has on a light colored hat with a small brim and a light colored ribbon band, a light colored dress with loose short sleeves, some sort of decoration on the bodice and a self belt. The skirt ends about three inches above her ankle. She has on dark closed toe shoes with a modified Mary Jane strap. She appears to be carrying a second umbrella and perhaps a pair of gloves. Louis has on a light suit with a dark tie and belt and has white shoes with a dark tip. He is holding a light colored hat with a dark band in his left hand. Behind Mrs. Fenwick is a gentleman in dark trousers standing next to a tripod. There are several people in the background visiting the building, which would have been new at the time. They may even have been attending the ceremonies for Maryland's 300th anniversary of founding in 1634. The Fenwicks look like they would love to be somewhere cool.
