4"h x 3 1/8"w sepia tone photo of Nellie Cooper seated on a chair in front of an ornate wooden fence. She had on a checked or striped shirtwaist dress with a white collar, tight cuffs, and a dark tie at her throat. She had on a bright white apron from her waist to her shoes. The apron had a wide hem and three white "stripes" created by doubling the material. Her hair was dark and close cropped and her hands and face were dark, so she may have been African-American.
