Black and white photograph 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w of the interior of Newtown Manor house. This imposing building was a Jesuit residence for many years. This view is of a bedroom. A small fireplace is centered on the wall. It has tall light-colored molding and mantel around the opening. There is a piece of flowered cloth over the mantel that is gathered in the center to make a slight arch over the firebox. A photo in a black frame is hung on the front of the fireplace and religious figures and another photo is on the mantel. There is a print or painting of a female in a white frame hung over the fireplace, but it is not sufficiently distinct for identification. The firebox is closed off by a striped panel and has a metal circle in the center that probably covers a hole for a stovepipe. The stove is not present. To the left of the fireplace is a narrow closet with another door above it, presumably for storage. There is a small wooden "slipper" chair next to the fireplace with clothing on it and a bed is just visible in the foreground.
