Black and white photograph 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w of the exterior of Newtown Manor house. This imposing building was a Jesuit residence for many years. The brick building is two stories tall and is high enough off the ground to have sizable windows in the lower level. This view shows one chimney end of the building. A driveway approaches the building. The closed gable roof that is ninety degrees to the orientation of the main roof is just visible in the foliage. On the second floor a center window is larger than the pairs of windows on either side. On each end is a pair of inside end chimneys with a bridge between the stacks. The roof is hipped to slope down between the chimneys. In this view there are two six over six light double hung windows between the stacks and a six over nine window near each corner on the second floor level. There are no other windows in this face. A shed roof runs the entire width of this face to create a four bay protected space for wood and other equipment for the building. Three of the bays are roughly fenced. Some sort of outbuilding is barely visible at the other end of the building past the porch. There may be gutters and a downspout in place. Trees are visible in various places on the property. The picture is overexposed, so it is hard to tell the line between the roof and the sky.
