3 1/2"h x 3 1/8"w black and white photo of one of the rooms in the Newtown Manor House, residence of the Jesuits for many years. The room was panelled to the ceiling in a light color. The molding at the ceiling was a darker color, as was the chair rail. This view showed a tall inset cupboard at the corner of the room. It had a pair of seventeen light doors that met in a point at the top. There was closely patterned paper either behind the glass or on the back of the cupboard. There were two doors below the chair rail for access to more of the cupboard. Immediately around the corner from the cupboard was a tall window. It had very elaborate draperies with four deep horizontal folds of dark material at the top, two long patterned drapes that went to the floor, and between those panels, a plain panel that was probably 18-24" long. In front of the window was an upholstered chair with a large crocheted antimacassar on the back. A floor lamp with a paper shade was in the proper position to illuminate a book.
