Black and white photograph 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w of the interior of Newtown Manor house. This imposing building was a Jesuit residence for many years. This view is probably of the kitchen. The corner of the room is in the center of the photo. The wall on the left is either wallpapered or painted and does not appear to be in good condition. There is a large window with dark woodwork with a chair rail just below it. There is an old window shade pulled slightly more than halfway down the window. The other visible wall is paneling painted a light color. Right in the corner is a door that is the same color as the rest of the wall and appears to get heavy use. There is probably a fireplace in the center of the wall, but there is a table in front of it that has baskets, glassware, and a roasting pan on it, so only the mantelpiece is visible. On the mantel are boxes, a metal lunchbox, and something tall that is covered with a cloth. Centered above the mantel is a heavy ornate frame with a photo or painting of a soldier.
