5"h x 7"w black and white photo of the Newtown Manor House, residence of the Jesuits for many years. This is the north, or land side, elevation. The building stood between Saint Francis Xavier Church and Breton Bay. It was two and a half stories tall with a light colored, possibly metal, roof and a pair of inside end chimneys on each gable end. It was full brick with an English basement. On the second floor, the center window was wider than the others with six over nine lights and five vertical lights on each side. On either side of this center widow were two six over nine windows, carefully spaced. Below the center widow was a gable roofed porch cover at right angles to the main roof. Its closed end facade rested on four pillars to create three narrow bays of porch. The porch floor was eight steps above the ground on brick pillars. A central entry door led from the porch to the building. On each side of the porch were two nine over nine windows, carefully spaced. There were two six over six windows on the lowest level. A rough fence was between the photographer and the building. Chickens busied themselves in the yard.
