7"h x 5"w black and white photo of the Newtown Manor House, residence of the Jesuits for many years. This was the west elevation. The building stood between Saint Francis Xavier Church and Breton Bay. It was two and a half stories tall with a light colored, possibly metal, roof and a pair of inside end chimneys on each gable end. It was full brick with an English basement. This gable end showed the notch in the gable roof between the chimneys. It is relatively easy to see where the additional half story was added in the early 1800s. There were two six over six windows between the chimney stacks. On each corner of the second floor was a six over nine window. On the first level there was a steep shed roof the entire width of the building that formed a four bay storage area. The three right bays were fenced off. The two right bays were piled with either stones or wood awaiting splitting. A wide strip of caulk joined the roof and the building. Barely visible past the shrubbery was the porch roof in the center of the long wall of the house. A small outbuilding was visible at the far end. A chicken wire fence guarded that side of the house.
