8"h x 10"w black and white landscape oriented photo of the Old Jail and its cannon. The photographer was standing on the courthouse lawn past the central sidewalk to the courthouse door. The cannon had been coated with something to prevent its deterioration. It was mounted amidships on a brick support of probably a dozen courses. The building was a rectangle; stone on the first floor, brick on the second and had a hipped roof with a small overhang. The roof material was cedar shakes. There were small inside end chimneys on each narrow elevation of the building. The chimney on the right had a lightning rod. There were three windows on the second floor front, one on the near corner of the narrow side, two on the first floor, a center door, and no windows on the first floor narrow end. All the windows had open shutters. The door was obscured by a tree trunk. There were fluted wood pilasters on each side of the door and a flat wood lintel over the entry. There were two numeral ones on the right side of the door--presumably the address was 11 Courthouse Drive. A low hedge divided the Old Jail from the courthouse lawn. There was a large tree on the courthouse lawn in front of the jail and smaller trees elsewhere on the lawn. The flagpole was near the large tree. There was a building across the street on the left and a few cars were barely visible behind the Jail.
