Description

This is a publication of an address given by William George Read, LLD at the second commemoration of the Pilgrims of Maryland in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 10th, 1843. It has a green paper cover reinforced with lots of bad tape. John C. Meyer had put several Ex Libris stamps in various spots in the publication, especially the back cover. Mr. Read gave a twenty-five page florid oration on the history of Maryland from its conception by George Calvert to the present [1843] day, with interesting (to our ears) words about the ill treatment of the Indians and urging his hearers to believe in the oneness of men. He went on to proclaim the virtue of tolerance of all faiths.
