Black and white 8"h x 10"w photo of Our Lady's Chapel in Medley's Neck. This was the second building and it was demolished in 1911. The person in the photo was Father William Stanton, S.J. The building is a brick rectangle with a simple gable roof. There was a wooden tower that appears to be much newer than the building. There were three twelve over nine double hung windows evenly spaced along the long wall. All the windows are open. Each window had dark shutters and the far shutter on the last window is partly closed. The roof was dark, perhaps even tar paper, and there was a small brick chimney piercing the roof about one third of the way from the tower. In the gable end on the second floor was a nine over six double hung window immediately to the right of the tower. The tower had a pyramid roof surmounted by a wooden? cross. The belfry was open with lattice work on three sides and rectangles on the front. Directly below the belfry was a small circular opening with an X across it. The rest of the tower had plain planks laid in a straight horizontal manner. There was a door on the front and one on the visible side of the tower. There was a wing on the back of the building with clapboard siding and a shake gable roof. A large tree was on the right edge of the picture.Collection
