Photo of Charles Pickersgill-Cunliffe as a ChildEntry/Object ID
2014.013.0097Description
This full-body shot is the first of three photos of Charles. Charles was the second son of Helen. In this picture Charles looks to be about four or five years old and he didn't seem thrilled at having to sit for his photograph to be taken. His attire consisted a dark colored button-up dress with white bloomers. The ensemble is finished off with dark dress shoes and white socks. Charles is sitting in a chair with a small woven basket held in his lap. There is a curtain seen behind him and an oriental rug beneath him.
His mother was married in the early 1850s and had her first child in the mid 1850s. After a number of sisters and a brother, it's not hard to place both his general age and when this photo was taken as during the late 1860s to early 1870s. The back is devoid of any information but as this photo has two companions, the last of which has Charles' name, it was easy to put two and two together.Collection
