This fine photo is a half-body shot of Helen's husband John Pickersgill-Cunliffe. He has quite the narrowed, fixed look towards the camera and it feels as thought he's looking back at the viewer with a judging gaze. Quite unnerving. He is wearing a dark jacket and has a large beard. The back of the photo has Hope's handwriting mentioning his name and the year the photo was taken as 1867. There is also the name Bernieri Caldesir and with a studio address of 13, Pall Mall, East, London.
