Description

These are two photocopies of an excerpt titled "A True Account of the Proceedings at the Tryal". The trial itself was about Captain Compton Guyther who in 1667 along with his crew was labelled as pirates after taking hold of a Dutch vessel. They eventually moored at a place called "Cowes Road" and were summarily apprehended by a Marshall of the Admiralty by the name of Daniel Gyles. There is one other paper that is typed up where some additional legal information about Capt. Compton Guyther is given. There's a handwritten blurb by Hope where she wonders of Compton was a nephew to Captain Nicholas Guyther.
