Photocopies of the pages of Mr. Jones' red paper cover scrapbook. Ca. 316 legal size sheets contain the contents of the 119 12 3/8" x 11 3/4" sheets of the usual scrapbook paper. The photocopy should be used by researchers--the original is too fragile to be handled. Some scrapbook pages contained several sheets of information glued on their edges, so some scrapbook page numbers appear several times. There was also loose material between the pages.
The contents focus on St. Mary's County and Maryland history. Mr. Jones was from southern Maryland and was educated at Charlotte Hall Military Academy, but he spent his adult life in Philadelphia, PA, where he had a law practice. Mr. Jones' family owned property in the area taken by the U.S. Navy for the Patuxent River Naval Air Station and he felt the loss keenly. He was very active in the Maryland Society of Pennsylvania and was an out of-town-member of the St. Mary's County Historical Society. He was a correspondent of Edwin Beitzell and many of their letters are in the Beitzell Collection (q.v.)
