Description

The Courts were selected to be photographed for a USDA Extension Service filmstrip about self-sufficiency on the farm--grow and preserve your own food to obviate the need for cash. This is a black and white photo. Photo 28. Vera Court presenting the results of her family's efforts to the Cedar Point Homemakers' Club. The meeting was in the community hall in Pearson. The room is brightly lit by three large windows visible on the side. Vera is using a large wooden pointer to indicate something on a shelf, but nearly all the ladies are looking at the camera. There is a copy of the Florence MacKubin portrait of Leonard Calvert high on the rear wall of the room. Virtually every woman in the room is wearing a hat; either a cloche or a beret.
