This group of photos was selected from a larger group of photos purchased by Mr. Lord at a railroad enthusiasts convention in Pennsylvania. He was approached by a woman who was trying to dispose of her husband's large collection after he had passed away. Mr. Lord graciously took it off her hands. He invited me to come to see what he had and since the collection included several photos of the U. S. Navy's railroad to the Patuxent base, I was able to take those, other illustrations of Maryland locomotives and stations, and carbons of correspondence between Governor McKeldin and President Eisenhower about the demise of the Navy's railroad. I also took a small pamphlet about the rules of armed forces railroading in France during WWI.
