This book covers Fall term 1884 to Fall term 1891. One page of instructions is followed by a blank register page. The pairs of pages are ruled off into five-day weeks with a strip on the far right side for information about the school, the pupils, a list of subjects taught, and boxes to indicate the condition of the building. A pair of pages was sufficient for a term unless there were more than thirty-five students, but student census in this school was well below thirty-four until Winter term 1886 when it jumped to thirty-two for two terms. There were often as few as ten pupils in the fall, but attendance was strong in all the other terms. This undoubtedly had to do with the rhythm of farm work. Edith Holmes was the teacher until June 1887, when the school was taken over by Linda M. Jones. She taught until June 1891. There are four blank pages followed by the record for the Fall term 1891 taught by Edith Holmes. The final page is blank. Miss Jones was particularly good about filling in the statistical information.Collection
