Scope and Content

1 sheet ; 15 7/8"h x 13"w This resurvey of Gristie's Venture, Saint Teresa, and Part of Venture was done by George B. Dent at the request of George R. Garner in August of 1873 or 1878, depending on how one interprets the number. These parcels were in the Chaptico area. Adjoining parcels included Part of Venture owned by Zachariah Hayden and a piece called Fight Falls owned by John A. Burroughs. A private road traversed some of the parcels to land owned by Aquilla Burroughs. One of the Saint Teresa property lines paralleled the public road from Chaptico to Saint Joseph's Church. The document is on rather curious paper or fabric, it is difficult to tell which, that has browned slightly. The top third lists the courses and the bottom two thirds contains the drawing of the parcels. An attempt at a transcription accompanies the piece.
