Description

The Courts were selected to be photographed for a USDA Extension Service filmstrip about self-sufficiency on the farm--grow and preserve your own food to obviate the need for cash. This is a black and white photo. Photo 6. Fred Court is removing a turnip or a potato from a root cellar created in a field. A burlap bag is propped open with straw and a stick and earth piled around and over the bag. A slab of wood serves as a door and voila! A root cellar.
