Saint Aloysius Church demolition 2Entry/Object ID
1995.001.2344Description
4"h x 4 1/8"w black and white photo of the remains of the 1860s Saint Aloysius Church as it was being demolished in the 1960s. This photo showed the lower part of the bell tower when everything behind it was gone and half of its facade had been beaten away. There was a round window in the top segment, but the window and door spaces of the lower facade were gone. There was a round arched door on the second floor that may have been the entry to a choir loft and a similar door on the first floor that may have been the entry into the sanctuary from the foyer. The building had been stuccoed with decorative pendants along the eaves and above the tall windows and the doors. In the distance on the right was the new church.
