5"h x 7"w black and white photo of the altar of the second Saint Aloysius Church on Washington Street in Leonardtown. The altar defies description, it was so elaborate. On the left was a small altar to Mary and on the right an altar to another female. Behind the altar, there was a larger than life painting of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga in a contemplative pose. There were many tall candles in front of the portrait. The tabernacle was an imposing piece with a large pediment. There were open doors to the sacristy on each side of the altar. The altar rail was of dark wood with dark curtains. I wonder what became of all this?
