Saint Clement's Island Lighthouse and CrossEntry/Object ID
1995.001.0815Description
This is a ghostly photograph of the St. Clement's Island lighthouse after it burned. The light tower looms between the roofless gable end of the three story brick building. The cross erected on the island in 1934 is in the foreground. The cross is surmounted by an osprey nest, which gives it a shaggy appearance, and is surrounded by a chain link fence and overgrown shrubbery and weeds. There is a row of stones is in the lower edge and corner of the image. The ghostly appearance of the lighthouse may be the work of the developer.
