Description

3 1/2"h x 3 1/8"w black and white photograph of Saint George's Episcopal Church in Valley Lee, known to most as Poplar Hill Church. The church was renovated in the summer of 1958, right down to the studs. Mr. Fenwick took quite a few photos of the process. This photo shows the inside of a small part of one gable end, corner, and one long wall. The gallery was held up by jacks. A turnbuckle was visible on one of the arches above the jack. There was a trench in the floor on the left, guarded by a sawhorse. Perhaps the man in the cap was explaining it all. ***************************************************** Text on the verso: in pencil "Poplar Hill Church Summer 1958" and in blue stamp ink "C 114"
