Description

8"h x 10"w black and white landscape oriented photo of Saint Ignatius Roman Catholic Church in St. Inigoes. The church is surrounded by a wrought iron fence of fleur-de-lis spears in arches. There is a double gate about half way along the fence. There is a small cross on each gatepost. The vertical bars for the gate are plain and each panel is reinforced with X members. The top of each gate has scroll work for decoration. The building is brick with a red brick collar at ground level ventilated every few feet. The church walls are painted white. The cedar shake gable roof has a narrow eave and cornice return with dentil decoration. The visible long side has three leaded glass round arch windows with dark brick caps. A small gable roof sacristy is visible at the back of the church. There is a chimney near the end of the roof peak and an access door in the center of the side wall. The eaves have the same cornice return and dentil decoration as the sanctuary. There is a one story small cedar shake gable-roofed vestibule on the gable end with a pedimented pavilion behind it. The pavilion has a pointed arch three light leaded glass window in its second floor center. The vestibule has a double wooden door with narrow leaded glass lights on each side, a transom and a very small rectangular window in the center of the gable end just above the eave line. There are three steps up from the ground to the floor. Both the pavilion and the vestibule have eaves with a cornice return without decoration. These features both have fish-scale shingles. There is a small simple cross on the roof peak of the vestibule. The steeple is very small with louvers on all four side, a pyramid roof and a small ball and cross surmounting the whole. There are lightning rods on the roof peak. Electricity comes to the building to the right of the vestibule roof peak. Sepulchral monuments are visible behind and on the far side of the building. ******************************************************************** Text on the verso: in black ball point pen "Miodrag R.
