8"h x 10"w black and white landscape oriented photo of the interior of Saint Ignatius Roman Catholic Church in St. Inigoes. This view is of the east end of the interior of the building. There is a barrel-vaulted coffered ceiling with elaborate moldings and painted decorations. A portrait of Christ crucified is in the center of the wall, surrounded by white pillars and moldings. Above the portrait is a notched arch with dentil decoration containing either the risen Christ or Holy Mary in the notch. There are several "steps" down from the portrait to the altar, one of which contains the tabernacle. There are two pillars on each end of the altar face that set off an image of Christ recumbent. There are doors to the sacristy on each side of the altar. There is a tall niche above each door. A statue of a man with a staff is in the right niche and a statue of a woman, probably Mary, in the left niche. There are painted decorations at the top of each niche. There is a partial view of a large image painted on the wall next to each niche. On the right is an orb, a key, and a book. On the left is a ladder, an anchor, and a cloth with the image of Christ on it. The altar rail has a dark cap. The church has a double aisle and all the pews are enclosed. White fluted pillars support the gallery where there are pews without doors. Because of the window indentations, it is obvious the walls of the building are very thick.
