3 3/8"h x 5 1/4"w handcolored postcard of the Saint Mary's Academy building of the early 1900s. It was a three story mansard roof building with clapboard on the bottom two floors and shingles on the third story. This view was of one narrow end and a long side with a wing near the back. There was a four sided louvered belfry centered on the flat roof of the narrow elevation. It was topped with a large cross. The artist had painted the roof of the belfry and other shingles gray and the louvers and any shutters grass green. There were three shallow dormers on the third floor. The one in the center had a large four over four window and was probably for a hallway. The other windows were two over two. The smaller dormers were painted blue on the sides. On the second floor there was another large center window with six lights flanked by two over two windows. All these windows had green shutters. Below the center window was the flat roof of a three bay porch that was set off with gingerbread and an overhang. This first floor porch covered an entry door and was three steps above the ground. The window on each side was two over two with green shutters. On the long side on the third floor, only two dormers were visible; the rest were obscured by trees. The same was true for the second floor. On the first floor, three two over two windows and their shutters were visible. In the L between the main building and the wing were three sizable trees, one of which was painted red by the artist. The clapboard wing, probably at least two stories, was painted ochre by the artist. It had three visible windows and an entry door with a three bay porch. There were at least two more windows barely visible beyond the porch. There were two long low hedges that may have formed a driveway or path to the side door. In the upper right corner in red print "St. Mary's Academy, Leonardtown, Maryland." In the lower right corner was "563-1" in white.
