3 1/4"h x 4 3/4"w color print of Saint Mary's County Courthouse. The photo is quite faded--yellows and dull reds predominate. This was a view from the Washington Street side of the building across the front lawn. A gradual slope up from the road was covered with vines to stabilize the soil. Nine stone steps led from the road to the lawn. At least in this photo, the roof was light colored. On the closest wing there were two round arched windows on the second floor and a single round arched window and a door with a round arched transom. The central bloc was topped with a dormer with an extravagant turned cornice. A projecting molding defined the roof line. A space between the moldings carried a large sign. A central round arched door was flanked by two round arched windows; the door gave access to the porch roof. The three bay porch had a gently hipped roof. What might have been one column was two, with three on each corner. The barely visible wing on the other side probably looked like the one closest to the photographer. There were two more recent additions to the back of the building with smaller, more modern windows. This phot was in a book at some time because it has tape angled across each corner.
