Black and white 5"w x 4"h landscape photo of the Saint Mary's County courthouse that was demolished in 1898. The view is across the lawn to the front of the building. The photo was taken in the winter or very early spring because there are few leaves on the trees. Several men are standing in front of the building looking at the photographer. Mr. Fenwick's text: "This beautiful old building was designed by William F. Small of the City of Baltimore, architect. It was built in 1831 by Ignatius Mudd, builder, of the City of Washington, D.C. Demolished in 1898 because it was old fashioned." The building was a large block of stone. There were rectangles within round arches within rectangles.
